The game
“Toony A La Caza Del Meme” is the video game created for Boing TV Spain’s website and app. The main character is Toony Tube, a YouTuber mascot with over 200,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel. In this video game, the line between reality, fiction, and 8-bit is truly thin!
The video game mechanics require that the player reveals the hidden image in the shortest time possible. To do this, they must move the icons with all the elements that Toony likes and that define him onto his image, placed at the center of the grid, as quickly as possible.
The positive elements to move onto Toony are the slice of pizza, glasses, thumbs up, headphones, basketball, and joypad. At the same time, the player must be careful not to move the elements that Toony does not like, which correspond to the exact opposite of the positive elements and are: vegetables, thumbs down, “game over,” the “no wifi” icon, spoiled pizza, and the icon of Lucy Simian, a character from “The Amazing World of Gumball.”
Negative elements are a malus in the video game; in fact, moving the “no wifi” icon turns off all the icons, making the boxes black and therefore making it harder for the player.
The further you go, the harder it gets, with new distracting elements such as balloons, gas clouds, and trash, which obstruct the player’s view.
