The game

“Il Complemago” is a video game designed for young viewers of the Cartoonito children's TV channel. Inspired in its colors and graphics by Cartoonito’s show of the same name, the show's setting has been completely recreated in pixel art.

To access the video game, the player must enter the game’s home screen, where they will find the TV show set and many gifts, some active (colored) and some to be activated by completing a game level (gray). To start playing, the user must select one of the gray elements on the game’s home screen. If the match is won, the selected element will become colored. The game continues by choosing the remaining gray elements one by one, playing a new match each time. Therefore, for every match won, a reward is activated on the video game’s home page. If all game levels are completed, “the most magical birthday party ever” will be displayed for a few seconds.

To complete the levels, the player must take on a game session whose mechanics require the player to aim using the right and left arrows, to launch colored spheres, aiming at those of the same color. The goal of the game is to make the spheres explode in groups of at least three. You win when there are no more spheres left to explode.

Objectives

The video game “Il Complemago” is the first video game based on a TV show created for the website and app of the Cartoonito children's TV channel,  with the aim of promoting and supporting the television show “Il Complemago.” Since it is aimed at a preschool target, we opted for a simple game mechanic with recognizable characters and bright colors.
