Mini games to educate and train in a fun way about environmental sustainability.

The game

‍The “Eco Games” are a group of three mini-games created within a communication and environmental awareness project by the Hera Group. Through different game mechanics, users interact with separate waste collection in a playful way. The three game mechanics include: an environmental memory game, an ecological maze, and a falling-waste game.

Framing this context of growing environmental awareness are reproductions of the reference cities where the Hera Group operates: Bologna, Cesena, Ferrara, Modena, Padua, Pesaro and Urbino, Ravenna, Rimini, and Trieste.

The graphic layout is in pixel art, with faithful 8-bit reproductions of the Hera Group’s transport and work vehicles and the most characteristic monuments of the cities.

Objectives

‍The aim of the “Eco Games” project is, first and foremost, to promote environmental education in a fun way and train users through a game-based system, such as recognizing the correct recycling bin based on color. In addition, as one of the tools in the Hera Group’s communication strategy, the “Eco Games” were used to support a prize contest launched together with the video game.

Integrated communication

The graphic layout of the “Eco Games” project moved beyond the web to also customize other offline communication tools, such as cardboard displays used during events, dynamic advertising on Hera vehicles, and gadget customization. The creative coordination of the “Eco Games” project was entrusted to the Dinobros team, which handled not only the creativity and development of the video game, but also the social editorial plan dedicated to the project and the creativity of offline communication.
