TV shows and video games, the perfect combination

How is the official video game of a TV show created? Today we’re talking about our project "Wild Things Il Bosco Dei Più Pazzi," the video game made for the Boing TV show. Find out more in the article.

When one of your clients is a television channel, dealing with shows is almost the norm. Over time, we have increasingly committed to creating video games that are not only aligned with the channel, but also with the show's brand.

We have already told you about the video game created ad hoc for the Spanish TV show "La Casa De Los Retos", in which we recreated the game mechanics featured in the Boing TV Spain television game show to offer users of the channel's website and official App an equally fun and engaging video game.

So not only Spain: in Italy we have also worked on video games connected to Boing TV and Cartoonito television shows. Today we are telling you about "Wild Things Il Bosco Dei Più Pazzi," developed for Boing TV Italy.

"Wild Things Il Bosco Dei Più Pazzi," the crazy video game of Boing TV's television show

How do you get to creating a video game inspired by a television game show?

In our case, it was crucial to know the show, its challenges, and the goals of the program. Our intent was clear: to create a fun video game for users but above all a recognizable visual world that would evoke the show.

The unmistakable Pixel Art style of our co-founder Manolo Saviantoni The Oluk is the hallmark of the "Pixel Games by The_Oluk" section in the Boing App. So for this video game as well, the choice of a retro game proved successful, and to raise the bar ever higher, the scenery and characters were faithfully rendered in pixel art to help users instantly recognize the show's visual identity in the video game.

Knowing the show, then, as a starting point to spark ideas. Boing TV's game show "Wild Things Il Bosco Dei Più Pazzi" features 9 pairs made up of an adult and a child, where the adult must play completely blindfolded inside an animal-shaped costume and take on challenges. To play, the blindfolded adult must follow the instructions provided by the child and complete the tests in the best time possible.

From this show came the request for the video game "Wild Things Il Bosco Dei Più Pazzi". It is a video game that lets players experience, firsthand and in arcade version, the gameplay experience of the television program.

The mechanic replicates two of the games featured in the TV program. First, the player must choose which character to play from the different animals available, and as on TV, they will play in a pair with a virtual partner.

The video game as part of an integrated communication strategy

As we have seen with other TV series, choosing a video game as part of the communication strategy is optimal above all for creating a longer-lasting relationship with users, fueling interest in characters and game mechanics, and establishing a direct relationship with your users.

To support the show's communication, in addition to the video game we created a themed IG filter.
